Swedana (Herbal Steam) is a Sanskrit word that means to perspire or sweat. Sweating therapy (herbal steam) is used after abhyanga (body massage) to transform the toxins in the body and evacuate them through sweat glands, thus making the body lighter and flexible.

Shirodhara derives its name from the Sanskrit words shira (head) and dhara (constant flow). It is a traditional and well-established ayurvedic procedure that involves slowly and steadily dripping medicated oil from a copper vessel onto the client’s center of the forehead while he or she rests quietly on a comfortable bed. This technique induces a relaxed state of awareness, resulting in a dynamic psycho-somatic balance.
